Caught on Tape is a creative expression of self based on my personal frustrations with my eyesight combined with a journey to express myself in a different way. American culture has an obsession with vintage objects: specifically the 70s and 80s. I was born in the late 80s and so personally I can't relate to much of the cool and zany culture that came out of those eras. But as the son of immigrant parents living in Queens, the 90s for me were a time when I realized that my parents became the original FOMO generation. To ensure that nothing from our childhood was lost, they furiously documented life through disposable cameras and VHS tapes. When relatives came over, we all huddled into the living room to watch those moments.

I'm about to turn 30 and my eyesight continues to fail me. So creating Lo-Fi images with a sense of ambiance and flaws is my personal middle finger to notion that everything needs to be crystal clear and 100% sharp all the time. Instead, we should worry more about the moments that are dear to us...

The memories.
